ABOUT THE INSTITUTION
The Saveetha Medical and Educational Trust was created in 1986 to provide medical relief, promote education, and encourage research. The trust started Saveetha Dental College and established an attached general hospital in 1988. Subsequently, the trust established a nursing college, a physiotherapy college, an occupational therapy college, and an engineering college to comply with our commitment and serve the people, especially those living in rural villages in and around Chennai and adjoining districts of Tamil Nadu. To fulfil the University Grants Commission's norms and obtain "Deemed to be University" status, Saveetha Medical and Educational Trust sponsored another trust (viz.) Saveetha Institute of Medical & Technical Sciences (SIMATS) in 2001. Subsequently, the said trust (SIMATS) was declared as "Deemed to be University" with the following three institutions under Section -3 of the UGC Act, 1956 as per Notification of the Govt. of India No.F.9-3/2002-U.3 dated 18-03-2005, now known as Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS) (Deemed to be University).
Saveetha School of Engineering is a premier engineering institution of Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, accredited by the Indian Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). Their curriculum and teaching schemes enhance critical thinking, thus enabling the students to deliver solutions to the technical glitches of the World. In addition, the college offers the best IET Enabled Credit Courses with an extraordinary emphasis on practical library Flex System, iPad Flipped Class, Foreign Language Centre, and a semester abroad exclusively to Saveetha School of Engineering. In the building and construction category, a Saveetha School of Engineering faculty member was included in the top 2% of scientists in India by Stanford University, the USA.
